Favorites from N Cali Trip : Here are my favorites from the N Cali Trip (Big Basin SP, Napa, Sonoma, San Fran, Bay Meadows, Yosemite). this should make it easier to get a feel for our trip since I took over 1000 photos total and there are over 400 that I uploaded.

Big Basin Redwood State Park : Our week long vacation started out with one night of camping at Big Basin Redwoods State Park. The park is near Santa Cruz in the mountains. It was a really pretty area, although it was rather overcast which made it difflicult to take good photos. We did a 3 miles hike after setting up camp. Then headed back into the town to have dinner at a cute italian restaurant. The restaurant was in an old lodge. After dinner we headed back to camp to get a campfire going and roast marshmallows.

Big Basin Redwood State Park

Napa Valley : Since our anniversary is on October 17th and was a Tuesday this year, we figured it would be a geat time to hit Napa Valley. We have never been here and just couldn't wait to arrive. We reserved this cute little cottage where they bring you breakfast in a basket every morning. The cottage is complete with a flat screen tv and fireplace. There is also an outdoor fireplace so you can sit outside in the cool autumn air and sitp your wine in the evening. The cottage delivered wood for the fireplace every night. The first night we sat by the fire while sipping a white wine from Sterling Winery. The Second night we were actually to full for wine after out anniversary dinner. We ate dinner at PJ's Steakhouse, it was complete with appetier, main course,and creme brulee for dessert. We also order a bottle of dry Reisling. The dinner was fantastic but very filling. we spent two days wandering around the wineries. My favorite part of the trip was going to Mumm for sparkling wine. We sat at the tables overlooking the valley and just enjoyed our time together. Napa was a great expereince I can't wait to go back sometime soon.

San Fran : Onwward to San Fran....we spent 3 nights at the Villa Florence in the heart of the city. This was a cute hotel, much like the ones in Italy. They served a wine reception every evening and we couldn't have been closer to the cable car stop and Muni. While in San Fran we toured around the sights of the city, ate dinner at Fisherman's Wharf, saw the Sea Lions, visited Alcatraz, and rode bikes over the Golden Gate Bridge.

Bay Meadows RaceTrack : Before heading to yosemite, we stopped at Bay Meadows so Dave could enjoy some horse racing. I like to go with him so I can photograph the horses. So it all works out good. We stayed here for about 2 hours before heading to Yosemite, NP.
